Does the Resort include any meals in nightly rates?
All resort guests enjoy a fresh continental breakfast each morning at The Grove from 7:00am to 10:00am. A full breakfast menu is also available à la carte for an additional charge.
Is there a Resort Fee?
Prana Maya does not charge a resort fee.
Is there a Service Charge?
A 10% service fee is added to the nightly room rate and covers gratuities for bell service, butler service, and Guest Services. It does not include gratuities for food and beverage, Spa services, or activities; gratuities in those areas are welcome at your discretion.
Does the Resort provide complimentary Wi-Fi?
Yes. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout guest accommodations and resort common areas.
What are the taxes at the Resort?
Guest accommodations are subject to a 9% tax. Food and beverage, Spa services, activities, and retail purchases are taxed at 12.5%.
What is the best mode of transportation from the airport in Belize City to Placencia?
There are three easy ways to get from the Philip S. Goldson International Airport to Placencia:
- Guests may simply rent a vehicle at the airport.
- Private ground transportation from BZE to the resort can be arranged. The drive through the Belizean countryside takes approximately 2.5 hours.
- For a shorter journey, Maya Island Air and Tropic Air offer multiple daily flights to Placencia Airport (PLJ). Our concierge team can assist with arrangements.
How do guests get to the Island from Placencia mainland?
Prana Maya provides boat transfers between Placencia Pier and the island upon request beginning at 7:00am. Later evening pickups can be arranged with the concierge team. The crossing takes approximately five minutes.
What currency does the Resort accept?
Both U.S. dollars and Belize dollars are widely accepted in Belize and at the resort.
What is the primary language of Belize?
English is the official language of Belize and is spoken throughout the country.
If I am staying in a Villa, how can I arrange to have my kitchen stocked with items I would like to enjoy?
Yes. Villa groceries and provisions can be stocked before you arrive. Contact the concierge team for a provisions form; purchases will be added to your room folio.
Are dining reservations required forThe Grove at Prana Maya Island Resort?
Dining reservations are not required for resort guests. We recommend reservations for visitors who are not staying on property.
Does the Resort have a Fitness Center?
Yes. The Fitness Center is located in The Inn and is open 24 hours for resort guests. Guests under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
How can I plan for off-island activities and excursions?
Excursions can be arranged before arrival through the concierge team, or confirmed, changed, and added once you are on the island.
What time is Check-In and Check-Out?
Check-in begins at 3:00pm and check-out is at 11:00am. For early arrival or late departure requests, please contact the Guest Services Manager. We will do our best to accommodate requests based on availability.
Does the Resort have a Dress Code?
Prana Maya has a relaxed resort dress code. Daytime attire may be casual and comfortable around the beach and pool. At The Grove, coverups and shoes are required. Smart-casual resort wear is appropriate for dinner and evening service; swimwear and flip-flops are not appropriate in The Grove or at The Breeze Bar in the evening.
Is smoking allowed at the Resort?
Smoking is permitted only in designated areas.
Is the resort pet friendly?
Small dogs are welcome, with a limit of two per reservation. Please let us know in advance if you will be traveling with a pet.
Is the Spa available to non-resort guests?
Yes. The Spa at Prana Maya is available to both resort guests and visitors staying off property.
Does the Resort charge a deposit?
A deposit of 30% of the accommodation total is required to confirm a reservation. The deposit is fully refundable for cancellations received at least 30 days before arrival. During holiday and festive periods, cancellations must be received at least 60 days before arrival to qualify for a refund.
What happens if there is a hurricane during my stay?
If Prana Maya is directly affected by a hurricane or hurricane threat while you are staying on property, we will provide a certificate for a future stay covering the number of unused nights.
If the U.S. National Weather Service issues a hurricane warning, guests scheduled to travel within 72 hours of the warning may reschedule without penalty.
No-show penalties are waived from the date a hurricane warning is issued through five days after normal resort operations resume.
Guests already on property who choose to depart early because of a hurricane threat may do so without an early-departure penalty. A certificate for unused nights will be issued for travel within one calendar year of the original reservation dates, subject to availability.
Traveling with Children?
Families are welcome at Prana Maya. Guests age 18 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Deluxe AeroBeds and Pack ’n Play cribs may be requested in advance; quantities are limited, so we recommend requesting them when booking. Children age 3 and older count toward the maximum occupancy of each accommodation.
